Andorra, paraíso ciclista: un destino que lo tiene todo

Andorra, a cycling paradise: a destination that has it all

Andorra has become a favorite cycling destination for professionals. We'll tell you why and how you can experience it firsthand this summer with Dog Days.

Andorra, cycling paradise: a destination that has it all

When you think of Andorra you might think of snow, shopping or nature, but if you're a cyclist, the first thing you should think is: "I have to go riding there."

Andorra has established itself as one of the best cycling destinations in Europe. It's no coincidence that a large part of the professional peloton is based here, nor that its mountain passes feature in key stages of the Tour de France or La Vuelta.

Why do all the pros train in Andorra?

  • Altitude: Training at over 1,000 meters improves physical adaptation, lung capacity, and endurance.
  • Impeccable roads: quality asphalt, little traffic and signage designed for cyclists.
  • Demanding and constant mountain passes: Coll d'Ordino, La Gallina, Arcalís, Beixalís or Cabús are just some of the many that you can link together in a week.
  • Spectacular natural environment: enclosed valleys, high mountain views and landscapes that make even suffering enjoyable.
  • Cycling infrastructure: bike-friendly hotels, workshops, cafes with bike parking, marked routes and an active cycling community.

Filming at altitude: how the pros do it

Andorra allows you to combine long routes with consecutive mountain passes, or easier days to recover by riding through the valley. The variety of terrain and the accumulated elevation gain make every ride a quality workout.

Many professional cyclists, such as Evenepoel, Ayuso, Enric Mas, Froome, and Valverde, have chosen Andorra to live or train in. This is not only due to the training conditions, but also to the tranquility and quality of life in the area.

Ideal climate and season

Summer is perfect: mild temperatures, clean air, and no stifling humidity like in other destinations. From May until the end of September, Andorra offers ideal conditions for training and relaxation.
