How to transport your bike in a car without damaging it

Planning a route away from home or a cycling trip involves one basic thing: transporting your bike safely . Improper transport can cause damage to the frame, components, or even fines for violating regulations. Here's how to do it right.

1. Roof-mounted bike rack

The most common and economical option. The bike is secured by its wheels or frame, freeing up trunk space. However, this does increase the vehicle's height: be mindful of parking and tolls.

• Advantages: economical, compatible with most cars, does not limit rear visibility.
• Disadvantages: higher fuel consumption, more noise, and risk of collisions if you forget the height.

2. Ball or platform bike rack

The most stable and comfortable option if you travel frequently. It secures the bike by the wheels, not the frame, and better protects the carbon fiber. Ideal for high-end bikes.
