How to dress for cycling in winter
Riding in the cold isn't about bravery, it's about preparation . If you dress properly, winter becomes the best time of year: less traffic, soft light, and unique sensations. Here's your guide to staying warm (or hot).

1. The base: first layer
A thermal or mesh base layer manages moisture and retains heat. Essential for staying dry even during intense exertion.
2. Thermal layer or windbreaker
On top of that, wear a thermal jersey or windstopper jacket . If it's very cold, add a windproof vest or lightweight waterproof jacket.
3. Legs, hands and feet
Long thermal cycling shorts with a quality chamois make all the difference. Gloves, shoe covers, and a thin cap to wear under the helmet complete the outfit.
4. Versatile layers
The trick is being able to add or remove layers. Three thin layers are better than one thick one. That way you can adapt if the sun gets hot or the temperature drops.

At Dog Days we have the clothing from Pas Normal Studios, MAAP, POC and Sweet Protection that cyclists who don't stop even in January wear.
